Which is better for a cat with severe flea allergy and a backyard full of ticks? frontline top spot or frontline plus or something else?
We used frontline plus every month and our cat just had a tick stuck to his rectum...is there a spray we could also use?
thank you.

Hi,

Most veterinary dermatologists agree that Frontline is the best product on the market when applied correctly. You can use it up to every 3 weeks if needed, even though it's labeled for every 4 weeks. When you apply it, please make sure the fluid gets on the skin, not the fur - part the fur until you can see the skin. Place a few drops in about 6 locations all the way down the back from the neck to the tail. Don't bathe your cat 24 hours before and 24 hours after application.

If you have a large number of ticks in the area, occasionally, one is going to get on. You should comb your cat daily if possible to remove any fleas/ticks that might be present.

I like to use a product called Skin So Soft SSS that works as an insect repellant. I usually use 5 parts water to 1 part SSS and use the mist on my dog and cat. In addition the following products has been used in the past as repellant too, Citronella oil, or Lemon Grass oil, or eucalyptus oil. These can be used in combination with Frontline.

Any chance of making this cat an indoor one?

Please let me know if you need more help. Revolution will be less effective and I hesitate for you to combine products.

Do you think the spray treatment of Frontline is more effective? or stick with the spot treatments?

thanks for the help. My cat and his brother like to go out for supervised visits to the fenced in backyard. Stopping him would not be fair after 3 years of being allowed to do it...it's only in flea/tick season that we have problems.
