I have a female cat who has to be at least 15yrs. old.

I have a female cat who has to be at least 15yrs. old. Suddenly, she's lost a LOT of weight, is eating less, but drinks water constantly. She doesn't appear to be in any pain when I squeeze her abdomen, etc., but is beginning to slow down. Is she sick, or is this just old age? Is there anything I can give her to make her better? Does she need to see a vet?
