My cat has black "Junk" in the lower corner of his eye. It is in the canal runing from his eye down along his nose. The material reappears after cleaning it from the canal. There is some redness undernearth the material. I don't know if it is related but his ear above the eye also has black dirt in it. Not ear mites. His other eye and ear are fine. What is the problem and treatment? Thank you. Ed

Dear friend,

This sound like a clogged tear duct and is a common developement with cats as they age. Initially, apply a damp teabag three times a day for two minutes at a time after you have cleand the substance with warm sterile water. Also go to www.revivalanimal.com and get some terramycin eye ointment. These two avenues should clear this up.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I will be more then happy to help in any way possible.

Very sincerely,

Terri
