My cat has what appears to be hiccups when she purrs. She eats, drinks, breathes and plays normally. She recently had teeth cleaned and a microchip implanted. She does not seem to be in distress at all. Hiccups also occur when I hold her as if I were feeding a bottle(in my arm, on her back). X-rays showed no obstructions, but there was gas in her intestines. She is 13 and 1/2 years old.

When is the exact date she had her teeth done?
Has she had this hiccuping since then?

The cleaning was on 6/21/06
The hicupping stared last week sometime - maybe around 5th or 6th?

Dear friend,

Sometimes when they remove the tube that is placed in the pets throat for the anesthesia - the pets trachea is torn or injured. That can result in the hiccups and lead to a serious infection.

You need to have your cat seen ASAP by a toally different veterinary office then the one that did the dental procedure.

Please do this tomorrow and gat back to me and let me know what was found and how she is doing.

Very sincerely,

Terri
