(Not a Cat Question?)

urinating problems
Sent to Cat Experts July 03 09:42 AM

my cat is urinating on top of the litter box. She does urinate in the box as well. This behavior is recent and my cat is about 9 years old. How can I get her to stop doing this. I'm also concerned that she will urinate in other place if she stops going on the top of the box. I should mention that the cats enter the box from the top.

First thing to find out is does your cat have a urinary tract infection or bladder stones or crystals.
So a vet exam might solve all the problems with the urination.
Hope this helps you!

Thats great that you already did that! Some people don't know to have a vet check done!
As a possible simple solution to try consider putting an open cat box on the floor next to the lidded one. Its possible she doesn't like the fumes that build up in the cat box you have now and so is going on top instead of inside. Sounds like she is trying to use the right place but for some reason doesn't want to drop down in the box.
Hope this helps you!
