my adult cat (13 years old) has been throwing up, and it is not hairballs. What can cause him to do this?

No, But I usually buy either 9 lives or friskies cat food. He does get some table scraps

The table scraps can be a cause of stomach upset so try to limit the table scraps he has been getting. Also try to stick with one brand of cat food as switching back and forth can cause a dietary intolerance that can account for the vomiting that you are seeing. Pick the one that he seems to like the best and stick with it and also try to limit or stop the feeding of table scraps.
