My cat was a wild cat when we found him and he has always had problems with being ill on and off. mainly he gets infections on the pads of his feet which gets some sort of dark brown to black gew and in licking it, it infects his mouth, lips, and chin area. the vet never gives an answer for what it is or how to make it stop comming back only gives meds and it goes away. he only stays inside with another cat who seems to be perfectly healthy. thank you Georgia chesnut

Dear friend,

THhs is not a virus but a fungal infection. Go to a pet supply and buy a fungal dip or liquid fungicide that can be mixed with water and conofite lotion. Soak your boys feet in the fungicide three times a day and apply the conofite right afterwards. Get some babies socks to put on him so ha canot lick any products off. He is spreading the funus to his mouth by licking so you must discourage this by taping the socks to his legs so he cannot remove them. He may also need a script of grisofulvin from the vet if the oral fungus does not readily clear up.

Please let me know if you have any more questions. I will be happy to help.

Very sincerely,

Terri
