Reply to Lori's Post: I am not really sure. He is actually a she, her name Coreena. She is about 9 years old and except for some weezing when she breathes sometimes, she has been rather healthy. We also have a 2 year old male name Reggie. Both cats have been front paw de-clawed so I don't think there is any claw issues, but they do horse fight once in while. I cleaned her eye twice this evening with a clean bottle of saline.

Cleaning the eye is good. You can also purchase some terramycin ointment at your local pet supply or online at www.revivalanimal.com and put it in the eye twice a day. If you do not see improvement in 2 or 3 days, your vet really needs to see it to possibly use a stronger antibiotic. The terramycin is very safe so don't hesitate to contact me again.

Reply to Lori's Post: Hello Lori,

Thank you. What you said makes sense. I do have two questions about this though.

1. Is there a place where one can buy this locally like a pet pharmacy and 2. should I still keep irragating the eye as well too?

Thanks,

J

Many pet supply stores carry the terramycin ointment. You can call your pharmacy also and ask if they also have it over the counter. I always call to make sure a place has it before driving across town to get something. I get it here at our local feed supply store. I would definitely irrigate the eye before putting the ointment in, just to clean it and remove any debris.
