Reply to Terri Riba's Post: From the SPCA they said she was approx. 1 1/2 yrs old. Her belly wsa shaved when we got her but we can not get close enough to check if she even has a scar. I can pet and scrtch her head with one hand. as soon as the other hand gets close she runs away. we have had her for 63 days, and it has taken me this long just for that. She is very sweet but very skidish. Im afraid if I take her to a vet in a carrier it will make her fears worse.

Dear friend,

THe thing that I am concerned about is that pregnancy does not make a cat act sick. There are several serious diseases (like FIP) that present with an enlarged belly. If she is pregnant - her nipples would be pink and she would have some milk or fluid in her breasts by now.

Look in your local phone book for a mobile veterinary service that could come to your home and see her.

PLease let me know how she is and if you have any more questions. I will be happy to help.

Very sincerely,

Terri

Reply to Terri Riba's Post: Can a side affect like the swollen belly come on quickly? Deppending on what kind of dis of course, but she looked perfectly normal the time of adop. but now she looks like she ate a football. An would a vet let me have a sleeping, or a happy pill before I either take her or they come in my home?

My concern is a disease called FIP which can come on very suddenly. If she does not have pink nipples and milk you really need to have her seen ASAP even if shedoes have a hissy fit. Check for a mobile vet as thet is much less stressful than traveling for her.
