(Not a Cat Question?)

One of our cats was just groomed for the first time.
Sent to Cat Experts June 04 11:46 PM

One of our cats was just groomed for the first time. her very long hair was cut extrememly short. We were told that she would act differently and peharps a bit stand offish. The problem is that our other female cat has suddenly gotten very needy and the one that was groomed has gotten very mean towards her, (hissing, growling and swiping). is this normal. should we go get the short haired cat groomed? It's driving us crazy!
Thanks! Sheri

Hi Sherri-

Usually, it's the other way around - the cat that stayed home is nasty to the one that got groomed. Take and rub the short hair girl all over with a towel, and then rub the towel over the just groomed cat. This will reintroduce familiar smells to her. It will probably take a couple of days, but they'll settle down. Any time one cat leaves and comes back there will be an adjustment period.

Reply to Lori's Post: Thank you for your answer. I did what you said and hopefully it will work. In the meantime we will just have to put up with her. PGE (Post Grooming Episodes)
