I just took in a cat that has been around my apartments---a young female. I am going to take her to the vet next week for spaying, declawing, checkup, tests, etc. But I noticed last night on my bedspread and sheets, there was blood in a couple of places (she had slept on my bed all night). In each place, there were about three drops each. I can't tell if the spots are pure blood, or were "watered down" as there was a dried ring around them also, which was not as dark as the center of the spot.
Is is possible she is in heat----or are there some disease that can also cause bleeding?

Cats do not menstruate so if you are seeing blood, she could have a urinary tract or uterine infection. She can have intestinal parasites like worms in her stool. She may also just have fleas and the blood is coming from flea dirt on the skin. Take a damp parer towel and wipe it on her fur, if it turns reddish - you will know it it from fleas. If not, keep a sharp eye on her litterbox habits so you can determine where the blood is coming from.

If she is eating drinking and pottying normally, it is not an emergency to see a vet with her.

Thank you for caring enough to take this dear cat in and give her a wonderful home.

My God bless you and those you love.
