My male cat 7 years old was showing signs
Sent to Cat Experts May 21 11:40 PM

My male cat 7 years old was showing signs of a uti ... he has been on antibiotics for 2 days now and isn't crying when he trys to pee... in fact he is peeing all over as he walks, he is very sleepy and wanting to be left alone.... is this normal once the antibiotics are starting to work. Is there anything else that I can do here at home to help him?

Dear friend,

It is customer to give clavamox or baytril for a UTI. However, you cat may also have stones or crystals irritatinghis urethra and causing the urine to drip this way.Youi ncan read about cystitis here;

http://www.homevet.com/petcare/cystitis.html

Immediately begin giving him one drop of unswettened (ONLY) cranberry juice. That is goingto ower the PH and acidity of his urine and stop the burning sensation. In addition, stop any dry cat food. He needs to have as much moisture n his system as possible to dilute the urine. Also, encourage dringing as much as possible. You can give him tuna water and plain pedialyte if he is not drinking enough. You will also have to get him on a cat food thet is specifically designed for UTI issues.

Please ley me know how your cat is felling and if you have any more questions. I will be happy to help in any way possible.

Very sincerely,

Terri

You need to force him - water down some canned cat food to a gruel and feed him with a dropper. You an also boil skinless chicken in unseasoned water add a pinch of salt and sugar to the broth and encourage him to eat that. Dry food is going to severely complicate his UTI's and can even cause FUS and complete bockages.
