Help! I woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny

Help!

I woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny Sunday. But before I knew it, my 3 year old cat, Izzy, ambushed me. The scenario was; my younger cat of 8 months, Grace, attempted to jump at my half opened window. I caught her mid air before she fell below, and opened the window the rest of the way for her to sit there. Right below the window sits a rocking chair that Izzy sleeps on every night. I didn't realize it, but Izzy was below the window and suddenly attacked me and Grace ferociously! I was hysterical and the instant pain of her claws were a bit much to take. Since then I have seperated all cats (I have 3 by the way). She is still acting very aggressive toward me, and howling. I have had cats for the past 20 years and this agression has stumped me. I love my cats like my family and they have always been very spoiled and well taken care of. Presently she is outside on my deck, 2nd story of the house, and I am afraid to let her back in for fear of her redirecting her aggression at me again or one of my cats. PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!

Dear friend,

I know you are very upset by this, and understandably so. However, I want to assure you that this was an isolated incident and not likely to be repeated,. Izzy was startled and she reacted in normal cat fashion of fight or flight. When something like this hppens - the cat is temporarily insane and does not realize who she is attacking,. She feels her very life is in danger so she strikes out at anything near her. This very thing happened to me with my own cat when i tried to intervene in a possible fight - he actually bit me but I know he thought he was biting the other cat.

Give Izzy a couple of hours to calm down and then just let her back in as if nothing has happened. Make sure you do not act nervous or stressed as she will pick up on that. She should be fine.

Please let me know if you have any more questions. I will be happy to help.

very sincerely,

Terri
