Me an my wife have a cat that is about 8 months old.

Sent to Cat Experts May 20, 2006 9:54 p.m.

Me an my wife have a cat that is about 8 months old. This morning my wife noticed that the cat had vomited 3 times in different places. 2 of them were watery but brown like his food. the 3rd seemed to be thicker. Now I am noticing that he is not holding his tail normally. Usually he holds it high. Now it is drooppeddown but is kept away form his anus. (almost like it is sore) is this something to worry about??

Does he ever go outdoors?

Is he neutered?

When did he eat last and keep the food down?

Does he ever chew non food objects?

No, He stays inside. He was nutered in February. right now we picked up his food but if we would sit it down he would eat it vivaciously. My wife just called me over and his breathing sounds a little wierd. almost like he is breathing very nasaly.   But he is still playful.

what is the food that you picked up?
Is he trying to eat?

Ask your wife if he sounds like he has a cold and if his tail is still that way?

we picked up his dry cat foor (Purina Kitten Chow) She said that he did eat some. To me it sounded like he has a cold, but that breathing is not consistantly that way. But yes his tail is still that way.

Desar John and mandi,

It sounds like your cat has a severe intestinal upset. It could be caused by a bad bag of food, mold forming in the bag, swallowing a non food item, a bockage of hair or other item in the intestine.

If he wants to eat, he is not feeling that bad. however, do not let him eat food from that bag. Either open a new one or give him canned cat food or boiled chicken.

If he cannot keep anything down and his tail remains in that position - you must get him to an ER vet for evaluation and treatment.

Please let me know what is going on with him and if you have any more questions, I will be happy to help in any way possible.

Very sincerely,

Terri

As long as he eats and does not vomit he can wait til monay to see the vet. If you have any chicken boil it for him so he can rest his stomach. The only way the tail is tied in with the vonmiting is by a digestive upset and possible abdominal pain.

if he starts eating and does not vomit but the tail remains the same - you may be looking at two different issues.

Please let me know what he is doing.

It is possible he fell or injured his spine in some way and that caused the initial vomiting. If he cannot lift his tail or he is in pain when you try to touuch it and he does not have trouble urinating or deficating then it is likely that he has injured his tail or spine and should be seen as soon as possible.
