I recently accepted ownership of a neighborhood outside cat that I had been feeding for over a year. Today he has been gagging as if trying to vomit and then stopping. This lasts maybe 10 seconds. Then he is all right for several minutes or longer. He is a long hair cat so could this be a hairball trying to come up? When will I know if I need to take him to the vet? He is not eating. And I have never owned a cat so I am not aware of their unique problems. Could this be a sudden flu? Help! Marilyn
