I have a 4 year old DSH cat with Hypertropic cardiomyopathy that was diagnosed on a routine exam..    Cardiazem was ordered, but this stresses my cat to the point of anxiety attempting to get the medication into him so I have abandoned doing that as he is asympomatic at this time.   My current question is: my cat is being air shipped from Florida to the UK and I was wondering about the similarity of humans that fly and aquire DVT whether it would be beneficial to my cat if I gave him a dose of aspirin prior to the flight to help prevent blood clots from forming.     I have read that Aspirin stays in the aninmals system about 72 hours.     I would hate the thought of a saddle embolus occurring from the flight when he is "healthy" running around and no symptoms at this time.
Thank you.

To date I have not received any answer from your veterinarians.   I am still wondering and waiting about the validity of giving a dose of Aspirin prior to flight.   It is a long trip on a plane for people let alone the cat being caged. I want the best treatment for my pet and wondered if this would help prevent blood clots from forming in view of the cardiac problem. I am a nurse and already listen to his heart and know he is in atrial fibrillation.Thanks. If you could make the question urgent this time, I have about 10 days before he leaves the country.
Thank you
