I recently took my 13 year old cat to the vet for sneezing.

I recently took my 13 year old cat to the vet for sneezing. She is a persian, her weight was fine and she did not have a fever.   She was quite active and happy for her age. I had taken her there 4 months earlier for sneezing also. The first time they gave me antibiodics and decongestants. These seemed to help control her sneezing. This time he gave her Amoxicillin and said she could probably use a distemper shot which he gave her both before we left. I brought my cat home and left for a couple of hours. When I came back home she had died in my kitchen floor. Could this be a combination of both drugs that killed her or the shot???? I am at a loss. The vet says that he's not sure what happened. That answer is just not acceptable to me. I need to know why she died.......She was a very important part of my life and I feel that her death could have been prevented.

Please let me know if you have any info. that can help.

Dear Sandra,
This is a horrible tragedy. I do not know what caused the sneezing in the first place but Persians and other cats with the Bracycephalic (pushed in) faces have shorter nasal passages and more problems with obstructed airways than other breeds.
Your cat should NOT have received distemper or any other vaccine while she had any upper respiratory issues. If she had Distemper (which I am sure she did not) the innoculation would have done nothing to decrease the severity of the disaese anyway. Therefore the innoculation was pointless.She most likely had a seizure, stroke, heart attack when you were no at home or a blood clot and one of those caused her death.
