Velcro is 15 years old. She was fine and upstairs talking and playing on wednesday and thursday I couldn't find her. She was under our bed. When she can out it was like she was drunk staggering around. Her eyes are bright and good, she still is hungry and eats fine and drinks her water, but can't seem to shake the drunk stagger. She also can't retrack her claws very well. Do you have any idea what is wrong with her?

There are a few things that can cause what you are seeing. The first and most alarming is that he might have ingested a toxin. If you even remotely suspect this, you need to rush him to your vet right away.

If the eyes are vibrating or going back and forth like they are watching a tennis match, your cat might have vestibular disease, a disease of the inner ear. It can cause stumbling, falling over and a general discoordination.

No matter what, you need to go ahead and see the vet with him, particularly if he is not eating well.

Let me know if you still have questions.

Reply to Tammy Falkner's Post: She is eating very well. That's partly why I so confused. Her eyes are fine, I had a cat pass away about 3 months ago that had eaten or bit a mouse that had been poisoned. She is not acting like he did. He was in a great deal of pain and other than she is staggering around she seems fine.
