My female cat leaves unpleasant spots on the furniture. She seems to be diligent with her grooming. Her anus and genital area stays messy and smelly (smells kind of like the dry cat food, but worse). I cant tell if she is secreting or if it is residual from a cat box session. this has been going on for some months now. She is about 4yrs old and has been fixed and is an indoor cat.

Depending on where the secretion is coming from, she could have vaginitis or anal sacs gland condition. Either way this is something you would want your vet to check and treat. If you have more details regarding her diet, other symptoms, and behavior, I may be able to better help you pinpoint what is going on.
