(Not a Cat Question?)

Is there any home remedies to give a cat that might have a UTI?
Sent to Cat Experts March 06 12:57 PM

my cat has recently started having problems urinating. She sits in the litter box longer and I can see her straining to pee, and when she does it's only a small amount. I have also caught her trying to pee outside the litter box.(if that helps you any.) I also haven't seen her drink any water, should I "force" some on her...but just because i haven't seen her drink doesn't mean she isn't. She also doesn't look Dehydrated.

This does sound like a urinary tract infection but there is no OTC or herbal remedy for this. Your kitty needs to be put on a antibiotic by your veterinarian. The good news is that the antibiotic that is normally used is relatively inexpensive. A UTI will not get better on its own. There is also a chance that your cat has formed crystals in her bladder which is blocking the way to relieve herself. This is normally found in male cats, but it is not unheard of. If this is true for your kitty, it can usually be controled by diet and possibly medication also. Try to get a urine sample and give your vet a call. I am sorry that there is no other solution. Good luck with your kitty and i hope she feels better very soon :)
