Question

I've been feeding a ferrel cat that I think is

Sent to Cat Experts February 16, 2006 12:20 a.m.

I've been feeding a ferrel cat that I think is pregnant but can't be sure. she is very small, with a wide middle, but seems to be having diffuculty breathing. Her whole body moves with every breathe. Is this normal for an expectant mother cat?

What you are seeing on this poor cat is not normal. Although, she might be breathless in labor- body contorsions are not normal at any other time.
She may have an undeliverable pregnancy,an upper respiratory infection, parasites, or other serious health issue.
From the way you describe her - she is probably little more then a kitten herself.
If there is a way you could trap her and bring her in - you could call a mobile vet to come and see her. Without treatment she will very likely die.
It is wonderful of you to take responsility for this poor cat. You must be a wonderful person. The world needs more people like you.
May God bless you and those you love.
Please let me know how you make out with her.

Will the stress of trapping her do more harm than good?

Even though it would cause her stress to be trapped - what choice do you have? She will most likely die without treatment.
If she has kittens that she cannot deliver - that is life threatening.
