How can we get two fighting cats to live together peacefully?

I have moved in with my Mom to help her out. She has Oreo the cat, who does not get along with my cat Boo. Oreo is the most loving cat until Boo is around then the fight to the death (if we let them) Boo is set up in one of the rooms where the door shuts, so he is safe, but we want them to live together in peace.
