Why does my cat have diahrea and not using the litter box?

Optional Information:
Age: 4; Male; Breed: Domestic SH

Already Tried:
We just moved 3 weeks ago and we thought it might have been stress. He shows no other symptons of being sick either. He eats normal and drinks normal. He urinates in the box but if he has a loose stool its on the carpet. We are at a loss.

How old is your cat? How long has she had diarrhea? Does she go outside?

Our cat is 4 years old. He has had the diarrhea for about 3 weeks now. It all started when we began to pack to move. We have a total of 4 cats. Mom and Da and 2 of their kids. Dad went missing about the same time as his sons diarrhea started. They are indoor/outdoor cats but we have not let them out at the new house yet...because, dad is missing and we wanted them to get used to a bigger house in a new neighborhood. The othe 2 cats have adjusted very well and have taken to the new home without any problems. Althoug they seem to all look for the missing member of the family.

It certainly sounds like stress to me. When cats have diarrhea they will not deficate in the box for fear they will step in it. Perchase some feliway in the pet store and use it in the house. This should calm him. As long as he is eating he is not in immediate danger. If it continues after the feliway have your vet check for coccida and giardia which are common in outside cats. You can also buy a product to treat the spots so he will not want to go there.Your missing cat may be disoriented due to the move so check all local shelters regularly for him.
