Vommiting Cat

What could cause my cat to start vomitting and what can I do to stop it? She just showed up at my house a week ago. She brought her kittens with her and made my garage their new home. I've got a cat that stays inside the house and I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't something that he could get. I also didn't want something to happen to her or the kittens if I could help it.
