Bone density loss in cats
Sent to Cat Experts August 04 11:49 AM

hello, i took my cat lewis to the vet because he couldn't keep his food down. while going through x-rays(normal, berium), blood work, etc. the vet noticed bone density loss in his back legs and hips. lewis is 3 1/2 by the way. all the blood work turned out negative. after an exploratory digestive track surgery they found a foreign organic "cheese-like substance" and a massive hairball lodged between the end of his stomache and beginning of the intestine and removed both. lewis is back to eating normal and behaving normally. the vet concluded finding the bone density loss was incidental to the digestive problem and to monitor it. lewis doesn't seem to be in pain and runs around and jumps and the normal cat things. any ideas why the bone loss and any suggestions as far as supplements to help this problem? i'm sure eventually this will become an issue for lewis as he gets older. thanks.
