my cat that is about 5 years old is panting. Is this normal?

I live in Arizona, I keep my cats in doors the air conditioner is on all day with a cealing fan the tempature in the apartment is 76 degrees. when I cam home Oscar the cat was acting strangly he was in the litter box panting. He did eat a little food. He then went into one of my cupboard and when I open the door to it he was panting again. I am concerned over this behavor

He may have a blockage of his urinary tract. Cats often pant when in pain and finding him in the litterbox doing this is a sign this might be the problem.
If it is then you need to get him to a vet as soon as you can as a blockage can be a serious life threatening problem.
