This is a stray cat I decided to help by having him neutered and vacinated. He was in many fignts and scarred up. His coat is long and scroungy. 24-48 hours after bringing him home from vet, he became lethargic, can barely walk; only moves occasionally and very few steps at a time; swelling in back paw and edema under stomach; when breathing, he exhibits mild shaking seen in the skin where his fur was shaved off due to matting - almost like a trembling from being cold, only it is not cold here. He drinks water maybe twice a day. Didn't see him eat today, but yesterday he ate. Hasn't had bowel elimination in two days; urinates maybe twice a day, can't make it to the sandbox, so urinates on towel. Took him to vet, May 25th, @ 10:00 a.m., no fever at that time, but it appeared he had a fever at onset of symptoms, no weight loss as of yet. Received 10cc shot of antibiotic; I give him dropper full of amoxil morning and night. No improvement from yesterday morning,May 25th, until now 6:20 p.m. May 26th. Swelling in back leg is from upper flank to toes; edema accumulation under stomach producing a pouch. This cat has been in many fights, he is perhaps two to three years old and small. There is a horse stable 1/4 mile away; don't know if he was ever over there; Dr. Miller thinks he may have tetanus which Doc has seen only once in thirty years in a cat. Don't know what to do. He is sweet kitty; feel sorry for him, but can't afford expensive vet bills. Please respond to mellissebrydges@comcast.net. Thank you. Customer (name blocked for privacy) Brydges Tucson Arizona
