Hi,
I'm so sorry to hear that your cat was in a fight, but I'm glad you took him to the vet and nothing major was wrong.
This experience obviously made him feel stressed and anxious, and this may be the reason for his inappropriate urination. However, he also may have developed a urinary or bladder infection, and this is also a cause for urinating outside the litterbox. Urinary infections may be attributed to a variety of causes, and stress is one of them. Also, crystals can form in the urine; these are tiny particles which have irregular shapes and sharp edges and they develop in urine that is not acidic enough. They irritate the lining of the bladder and urethra and if they clump together, they can cause a very dangerous urinary blockage.
Male cats are more prone to blockages because of the narrowness of the urethra, as compared to females.

When a cat experiences pain upon urination, he will seek out other places to urinate, thinking if he avoids the litterbox, he'll avoid the discomfort.
Watch your cat carefully and make sure he is, indeed, urinating and not just dribbling small amounts. Bring him to the vet, tom'w, for evaluation and a urinalysis. If he has an infection and/or crystals, he will be treated with antibiotics and the most appropriate supplement to acidify his urine.
Also, for his anxiety, try a cat appeasing pheromone called Feliway/Comfort Zone for Cats, which comes in both a spray and plug-in diffuser, available at major pet supply stores like Petsmart, and also online. The diffuser resembles a plug-in air freshener, but has no scent to humans. Feliway helps to relax stressed cats and is useful in a multitude of situations. For more information, please see:

I hope your boy will be fine!
