I caught my cat urinating on my bathroom rug this ...

Sent to Cat Experts July 11, 2006 12:05 p.m.

I caught my cat urinating on my bathroom rug this morning. I noticed that she had not been using her litterbox for this the last couple of days. However, she has been using her box to poop. She has had a couple of urinary tract infections before, so I thought that might be why she was going on the rug. But I soaked up the urine with a paper towel and I did not see any signs of blood in it. Is there any other reason that she might do this? I am trying to avoid taking her to the vet if at all possible because the tests are so expensive for me! Please help. Thank you.

Hi! I'm afraid since your cat has a history of problems, this may very well be the beginning of another one. The blood is usually once the infection is in full gear. Maybe you could tell the Vet she has all the same signs, and you know this is problematic, ask him if you could avoid the stress on her to a visit to him, by just prescribing the medication. Also ask him about Science Diet S/D and C/D. I add a little regular cat kibble to it so my cat will eat it. I know how expensive Vet bills are, but I bet if you tell him you do not want to put her through the terrible stress of a car ride and the visit, he will help you. It's worth a try, and you cat does need the medication. It's not her fault, she is just like some humans, we all have a weakness in our bodies somewhere. If you have any other questions, please ask me.
