sick cat? or old age and passing?

Sent to Cat Experts September 23 06:00 PM

cat started acting lethargic yesterday. There was vomit in a number of areas. It was a foamy white residue. Had trouble standing and was staggering when trying to walk. He urinated in the cat box after we feed him water with a medicine dropper. he is not eating anything and it doesn't appear drinking either. wouldn't even lick tuna off a spoon. he appears to be in better shape but still out of it. our suspicions are tick bit , old age, or ate a perscription headache pill that may have fallen on the ground. he is a 11 year old neutered male. traces of black around one nostril. blood? recent weight loss

You can see if some plain pedialyte will help him keep hydrated. Or you can boil up some chicken and give him broth. Or the pet supply store carries a product called Felovite (or Nutrical if you need to get a substitute) which you can put right in his mouth for energy and nutrition.
He may be having trouble walking from weakness.
He could be having liver or kidney issues or a heart problem.
Its unusual for cats to have a tick on them long enough to get a tick disease as they groom themselves so well but it can happen and can lead to kidney failure.
You could be seeing the results of a viral infection too.
Best bet would be to have a vet see him to do bloodwork and find out if he can be helped or not.
Hope this helps you!
