Question

My Calico has stopped eating completely and has crackling gas bubbles

Sent to Cat Experts October 15, 2006 8:17 p.m.

I have a 4 month old Calico cat. She just finished taking antibiotics because she had a bad fever and some congestion. Now it seems like she has gas bubbles inside her body. Everytime you touch her skin you feel little crackling bubbles all over her back, her stomach, her head and even her right leg. Also, she coughs often. At first I thought she just had a hair ball but as of yesterday, she has just stopped eating completely and I have to feed her liquid cat food with a dropper. Please tell me what's wrong with her?

Hi,
So you're feeling these gas bubbles under the skin? When did the coughing start, and what antibiotic was she on (do you have any left?) Did the congestion go away? Thanks!

She started coughing 3 days ago. She was on amoxicillin and her congestion has not gone away. She does not eat because she cannot smell her food and she gags flem constantly. The gas bubbles have not disappeared from underneath her skin. I've given her some hairball medicine and I'm waiting to see how she reacts.
