My four year old female Weimareinar has a foul vaginal odor ...
Sent to Cat Experts July 20 11:16 PM

My four year old female Weimareinar has a foul vaginal odor with no discharge that just started today. Her heat was a month and a half ago. She was mated at that time, but is not pregnant. She was just at the vet yesterday, and checked out fine, having no odor at that time, and received her regular vaccinations. Is this something to worry about, such as a possible pyometra infection?

I would worry about possible pyometra.
If you want to try to save her for breeding purposes you could try prostaglandin treatment instead of spay.
The infection may be the reason she did not conceive.
You can read about this and treatments here

You might want to test her for brucellosis if she and the stud were not tested before breeding too.
Maybe this is just a vaginitis, maybe its a urinary tract infection issue but I'd be worried based on the timing about a pyometra.
Hope this helps you!

Reply to nholmes's Post: Geez, as far as her not conceiving, I'm pretty sure we just "missed her." This was our first try as well. The fact that she was just at the vet yesterday has me thinking, shouldn't have he picked up on symptoms indicating infection. Her behavior has not changed at all. No increased drinking or urinating. No vomiting. No discharge. Is it ever normal in a dog's cycle to just smell bad?

I hope you just missed her its just that the timing is perfect for pyo - about 6 weeks.
I'd hate for you to ignore this and it be a real problem!
Maybe this is a reaction to vaccines as her body breaks them down and eliminates them, maybe its a vaginitis, or urinary tract infection.
A closed pyo is easy to miss until its really critical.
If she is drinking a bit more that is another pyo indicator but hard to tell in the heat sometimes a reason for more drinking for sure.
The only time my girls are 'whiffy' is the end of their heat seasons - that last week they can be rank. But normally there isn't a discharge or odor from the vulva unless they are ill.
Sometimes the skin folds around the vulva get a yeast infection? that would smell and be irritating to her.
I'd rather you got a cbc blood test and found she was fine with no raised white blood cell count than just brushed this off when it was an infection. To my mind this is a better safe than sorry issue. But you can see her and I can't to determine how she really is feeling.
